Acute toxicity, toxicity of percutaneous absorption, and eye irritation test of Hexomilone^(®) ointment

Abstract

|
This study was undertaken to investigate acute toxicity, toxicity of percutaneous, absorption and eye irritation test of HEXOMILONE® ointment, combined preparation of Hexam- idine diisethionate 0.1% and triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% in a ointment base.
We used mice (ddN strain) and Albino rats to investigate the acute toxicity on active constituents of HEXOMILONE® oint. and the results; LD50 through mice was >2,489mg/kg (P.O. ?,♀ ), 175mg/kg (S.C. ♀ ), 74mg/kg (I.P. ♀ ) respectively.
No special observable toxic sign was appeared from the dead and survived experimental animal.
According to the results of percutaneous absorption toxicity test and eye irritation test on HEXOMILONE® ointment using rabbit, there was no dermal-toxicity and no eye irritation sign was detected.
